SLAB! - Music From The Iron Lung (MLP)

(Ink Records/The Cartel)

This Mini-LP is totally different to the album "Descension" from the same year. It is less Industrial and more Underground-Big-Band-Sound with a lot of brass instruments and a funky bass. The record is a compilation of the two 12" releases "Mars On Ice" and "Parallax Avenue" + one bonus track. If you like to dance to SLAB!´s idea of "Independent Easy Listening", this would be the right record for you.

SLAB! - Descension (LP)

(Ink Records/The Cartel)

Wow, I was searching for this records round about ten years. I bought every SLAB! Record, I found anywhere, only to get the track "Big Sleeper", which I heard once in an independent radio show many yeras ago. So I became a fan of SLAB!, a band, that never got real success. They play a kind of Dark-Industrial-Funk, which could be interesting for fans of Foetus, Swans, early Young Gods and early KMFDM. They release a couple of good records, but never reached the quality of "Descension" again.

Their masterpiece is "Big Sleeper", a dark and doomy track, that collapses in pure noise in the end, created by the classic Rock-instruments. The guitar-noises remind a little bit of very early Jesus And Mary Chain. If you like the above mentioned bands, you should also try out SLAB!.
