THE SHADOW CABINET – Solitude (CD 2000)

By chance I discovered the Website of the Californian band THE SHADOW CABINET and asked them to send some music, ´cos it seemed to be a really interesting US-Goth-/Death-Rock-Band. I actually do not know much about this band, but for sure, I will interview them soon. The album “Solitude” is coproduced by the Band and Bari Bari of the legendary Mephisto Walz and it sounds very “goth” at all, driving, sometimes tribal and really powerful drumming, distorted Guitars, a hammering Bass, good vocals and a sound, that is some kind of a combination of classical Brit Goth (the band name as influences bands like Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, Echo  And The Bunnymen...) and the typical Death-Rock Guitars. This is a great mixture, I think, and I play this CD very often. THE SHADOW CABINET do not play a new kind of music, but they are very original and don´t include boring Metal elements or any other Crossover things, it is pure Gothic-Rock, which you can´t listen to very often these days. It is simply great! Watch out for the fothcoming interview with THE SHADOW CABINET! (A.P.)
