SCREAM SILENCE – Forgotten Days (MCD 17.11.2001)

Zur Band SCREAM SILENCE muss man ja nicht mehr viel sagen. Die Maxi beinhaltet drei Stücke, nämlich einmal die „Single-Version“ von „Forgotten Days“ und eine sehr ruhige und balladenhafte „Strings Version“. Ersteres Stück kennt man ja bereits von dem Longplayer „The 2nd“. Zu guter Letzt gibt es noch das elektronisch gehaltene „Twilight“. „Forgotten Days“ ist ein wunderschönes Stück mit einer wunderbaren und herzergreifenden Melodie, definitiv einer der Anwärter für das Lied 2001. Weich wie Samt und genauso kuschelig. (H.H.)

This is a relatively new German band, playing classical England influenced Gothic-Rock. The whole thing sounds very much like the Deadful Shadows from Berlin and, as the info-sheet says, SCREAM SILENCE are friends with Dreadful Shadows. What a surprise! "To Die For..." is a nice Gothic-Rock album., but I miss the real "kick". Most of the songs sound very similar and there are too many keyboard sounds included, so it often sounds too soft and poppy. I guess, SCREAM SILENCE are live very good and powerful, but these studio recordings are nothing more than average. I fear, that the next recordings will sound more goth-metallic, which would be the "normal" development for today´s Gothic-Rock-bands. Try out if you like or choose a Dreadful Shadows CD first. (A.P.)
