SCREAMS FOR TINA – 2003 A.D.
SCREAMS FOR TINA – 2003 A.D. (MCD 2003) (Strobelight Records/Indigo)
Der Opener „Standing In The Rain“ lässt mich ein ganz kleines bisschen an die guten alten Fields Of The Nephilim denken, „Life Of Sin“ ist gut produzierter, solider Gothic-Rock und „Ranjipur“ hingegen druckvoller US-Death-Rock. (A.P.) SCREAMS FOR TINA – Judgement Day (Double-7“ 1992) (Piece Of Mind Records)
The two single feature alltogether 4 tracks, which can be find on the CD album of the band, too. All four songs are great Death-Rock tunes, that will not leave your head, after listening to them the first time. „Judgement Day“, „Suffer“, „In Her House“ and „Devils“ all have a raw, driving production and can be described as classics and it is a shame, that this band is more or less forgotten today. Anyway, in the Death-Rock universe, they are one of the „big´uns“ (remember this „tits´n´asses magazine“ from the TV series „Married With Children“?) beside Christian Death, Voo-Doo Church, Requiem In White, Fade To Black and very few others. As this release is very hard to find, you should take it whereever it appears. Really a fantastic Death-Rock piece (even if the 12“EP „Strobelight Funeral“ is still a bit more cult). (A.P.) SCREAMS FOR TINA - Strobelight Funeral (Mini LP) (Dark Illusion Records) This was the record, I was searching round about 10 years, since I first heard "Simple Addictions" on the "American Gothic" Compilation! I cannot explain, why it was so hard to find a copy, but also mastermind Warren Mansfield was not able to find a copy for me and so I had to wait until mid 1999 to get my very own copy of one of the best ever Death-Rock records! (By the way: thanx to Sofia D./L.A. for helping me to find it finally, you are in my heart forever!) This release is absolutely perfect and can only be compared to records like the Voo-Doo Church EP and the first Christian Death LP, okay, let´s also mention the Mephisto Walz Mini LP. The b/w cover artwork, the lyrics, the guitars, everything else...I was jumping through my flat like a complete idiot, when getting my very own copy in my hands. Don´t think, I am an idiot, but don´t you have a "legendary" record, that influenced your life very much? It was the long way of ten years to find "Strobelight Funeral", that escorted me in my life in the Gothic-Rock scene. Be aware, this review is very, very subjective! But in any case, the music is very good and now let an SCREAMS FOR TINA addict listen to his dope... |
