| NEXUS – Wrapped In Cellophane (CD 2002)
(Cyberdelia Records,

„Wrapped
In Cellophane“ is the third album of NEXUS from Greece and it is their most
many-sided work yet, I think. First of all, it is Gothic-Rock, but there are
millions of influences from Metal and Alternative Rock to Dark Wave and
Electro/Indistrial. The whole atmosphere is very dark and the voice is
somewhere between Andrew Eldritch, Peter Spilles, Carl McCoy and the singer
of Garden of Delight. Gothic-Anthems like „Evil In Evil Out“ and „Born In
Razors“ have the potential to fill the dancefloors in many clubs and „These
Tears Again“ will satisfy all fans of classic Gothic-Rock, I think. „Machineries
Of Fear“ reminds me a bit on the soundtrack works of Nine Inch Nails,
definetly a club track! „Wrapped In Cellophane“ is something, that can be
called Cyber-Goth and I often feel remembered on Trev Bamford´s band
Midnight Configuration. Would be fine, if NEXUS would find a distributor for
Germany and other countries, so they surely would become a band with a loyal
following.
The artwork of this CD is very likely, too,
so there is no reason, not to get in contact with the band and order the
album soon. (A.P.) |
