THE NEW CREATURES - Cunning, Baffling, Powerful! (CD)

I heard about THE NEW CREATURES the first time some years ago, when I received a limited demotape from  a friend. It was nice, but I never found out anything else about this US-band. Well, „Cunning, Baffling, Powerful !“ is their debut CD and this is the german edition with different artwork and a bonustrack. This band is actually not as dark and deathrocky, as many reviews told us, but it is a good album, which combines elements of both, US Death-Rock and England´s Fields Of The Nephilim. The CREATURES add also things like keyboard-piano-sounds or violin and cello, which lets the album sound very fresh. Not  a milestone of the Gothic-Rock genre, but a good album, which you can still listen to in a few years. (A.P.)
