BACK AGAIN: ENGLISH WAVE & GOTHIC REVIEWS
| CHAOS GOD - 3001 (CD) (Dion Fortune/SPV) The release info calls the music on this album "Goth-Tec" and "powerful Industrial-Goth", but this is nothing else than the follow-up band of the now legendary Goth-Rockers Garden Of Delight, who completed their plan to end the band after 7 albums in 7 years. It was obvious, that they would create anything new after the departure of Garden Of Delight and so ARTAUD and TH.O´CONNELL formed with two new band members CHAOS GOD. Well, I exspected, that there would be something other, than Garden Of Delight and I also thought, it would be harder, than the old recordings and finally here is the debut CD. All in all a fine work, still Gothic, but with many electronic infkluences. I remember the term "Goth Tec" from an early release of Midnight Configuration and, yes, we can compare bot bands, even, if CHAOS GOD have some more metal guitars, but also the intense voice of ARTAUD, which will please all old fans. Some powerful tracks will burn the dancefloors, but the band is also able to create more emotional moments, so we have a very many-sided album. Let me describe it as a mixture of Garden Of Delight, Midnight Configuration and some Industrial-Metal bands. This album is really good, but not a "new dimension of modern Goth.Music" (as the info describes it). I prefer Garden Of Delight. (A.P.) |
