JACQUY BITCH -
Frustration JACQUY BITCH - Frustration (Tape) (self produced) This tape of the ex Neva-singer from france is very old, I guess from the beginning of the 90s and it contains JACQUY BITCH´s soloworks from 1983 to 1990. As you can see, a long time, so the songs and even the sound vary much in their quality. It is the typical mixture of Batcave sound, Gothic-Rock and french Cold-Wave with the theatrical voice of JACQUY, somewhere between Andi Sexgang, Nik Fiend, Ollie Wisdom and Robert Smith. The music can also be described as mix of Sex Gang Children, Norma Loy, Alien Sex Fiend ánd Neva, so that this tape is much better than millions of boring Gothic-Rock releases today, JACQUY BITCH is something special. JACQUY BITCH - Le Mains Du Mal (Tape) (self produced) This is another old tape of JACQUY BITCH, his best solo-work yet! We get to hear a combination of minimal drumcomputer sounds and shrieking guitars with the unforgettable voice of JACQUY. His music has never again been so close to Virgin Prunes meets US-Death-Rock. Just listen to the brilliant guitars on „Le Coloir Sans Retour“ and you know what I mean. Try to get a CD-R copy or tape of this release and it will not leave your CD-Player/tapedeck for a long time! Simply irresistible Gothic-Rock! (order from Darkside Distribution) This was the first solo CD of Neva´s former frontman JACQUY BITCH and it is definetly very good. Very 80s influenced Batcave-Gothic-Rock sound somewhere between Sex Gang Children, Virgin Prunes and Sopor Aeternus with some electro-experiments. Very original and not often heard in our Techno influenced times. Cool appetizer for the debut CD on Darkside Records. (A.P.) (Darkside Distribution) Some of you readers may know JACQUY BITCH, even if you are not from France. JACQUY has been in the 80s Cold-Wave legend Neva (see review). Now he works on his solo career and after some tapes, here is his debut CD from 1998. Hard to describe, what you get to hear on this work, but think of Bauhaus meets the Specimen meets Sex Gang Children meets Clair Obscur meets Norma Loy (to name the best known french acts from the 80s) meets Neon Judgement meets Weathermen meets... Of course you don´t find all influences in every song, but some of them you will find always. Call it Cyber-Batcave-Cold-Glam-Wave or so, but it won´t describe JACQUY BITCH at all. Just to give you a hint...if you liked Neva and the old Batcave Sound meets the solo works of Andi Sex-Gang, you will not totally fail. Really a fine CD, which is very 80s dedicated. (A.P.) |
