AUSGANG –
Last Exit... (CD 2001)
(Anagram-Cherry
Red/Pinnacle)
The
Anagram Label is doing a great job with its “Goth Collector Series”,
which includes great CDs of Skeletal Family, Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend,
Danse Society and this one of AUSGANG, a (today) less known band from the
great times of London´s Batcave Club in the early and mid 80s. “Last
Exit...” contains 22 tracks from all releases of this group, including
the “I am a Horse” 7” under the name of KABUKI, which is very rare.
The music is somewhere between Alien Sex Fiend, Specimen, Sex Gang
Children and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry with a squeaky voice. Most tracks are
really powerful and songs like “Lick”, “Weight” or “Fat
Vigilante” are classics in good (!) Underground Clubs. Even if the band
never had big commercial success, their raw Post-Punk sound definetly
influenced many bands. The fold out booklet contains a pictural
discography and interesting liner notes by former bandmember Max, so this
release is a needful part of Goth-History. (A.P.)
