LOVE SPIRALS DOWNWARDS - Ever (CD 1996)

(Projekt, www.projekt.com)

I never followed the work of LOVE SPRIALS DOWNWARDS very interested until I received their album „Ever“ a long time ago. It was a fault, not to listen to their music, because this band fits perfectly in the work of the Projekt label, which is one of the finest record companys these days, if you like ethereal, ambient and „calm“ music. Well, LOVE SPIRALS DOWNWARDS are not as perfect as labelmates Black Tape For A Blue Girl or Lycia, but they have their very own style with many Folk influences and a very relaxed atmosphere. The fragile voice of the female singer reminds me a bit on Julee Cruise (remember her works on the soundtrack of Twin peaks). If you know the calm songs of the second album of Germany´s Dark Orange, you will get an idea of what to exspect from „Ever“. It is a fair, relaxing album. (A.P.)
