LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE – Nouvelles Pièces Dissidentes (CD 2003)
(Cabinett Records

It
is a wonder, that LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE puts out release after release
and all of them are quite good or simply great. The latest release is the CD
„Nouvelles Pièces Dissidentes“ on the Membrum Debile Propaganda Sublabel
Cabinett Records, which was founded to release special Minimal-Electro
albums. It is nearly unbelievable, but every record or CD of LE SYNDICAT
ELECTRONIQUE sounds quite different. This time the sound is more
experimental. The short tracks (11 in less than 30 minutes) still have a
Minimal-Electro feeling, but are also close to bands like Klinik/Dive,
Esplendor Geometrico, Whitehouse and others in this vein. Most of the tracks
are not made for the dancefloors, so this album is more the right stuff for
listening at home. The atmosphere is very 80s-like, but I won´t say, that
this sound is „retro“, but very up to date. The info to this CD says, that
bands like SPK, Front 242, Kraftwerk and Can are some influences of LE
SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE, well, no single song sounds like any of these bands,
but take the best influences of each and you get an idea, how „Nouvelles
Pièces Dissidentes“ sounds. Great album. (A.P.)
LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE – Grandeur Et Decadence (7“EP)
(Disorder Records/Das

LE
SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE is still the Solo project of our friend Alexandre of
Invasion Planete Records from France and can be described as „one face, many
facets“ (this is stolen from Alex Novak of Venus Fly Trap, by the way). The
music is always something out of the wide range of minimal electronic music,
but on every of the many releases with a slightly different focus. This new
4-Track-7“EP is a bit darker, than some other records and I feel a bit
remembered on some old Cabaret Voltaire stuff, even, if this is not the best
possible comparison. The music is not so much experimental, as Cabaret
Voltaire, but transports similar feelings and atmospheres of early 80s
Industrial cities like Sheffield or Manchester. It has a certain touch of
„Berlin Mauerstadt“-feeling like in films as „Decoder“ oder „Wir Kinder Vom
Bahnhof Zoo“. The sound is a bit monotonous as an assembly line in a factory
with some influences of projects and bands like Notstandskomitee and
Kraftwerk. In my very personal opinion, this is one of the best LE SYNDICAT
ELECTRONIQUE releases, I know by now. It spreads some kind of discomfort and
what else makes a record good, than activating feelings of the listener?
The
record from Berlin´s Disorder Records comes in a limited edition of 300
copies in both, red and blue vinyl. Get your copy soon, until stocks last! (A.P.)
LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE –
Dissidence (LP 2002)
(Invasion Planete

Alexandre
of the French LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE is very active. He releases a lot of
records of his own project, but also runs one of the finest labels for
Minimal-Electro-music these days. Invasion Planete has a catalogue of very
good material, which comes always in limited editions.
„Dissidence“ is another
great LP, full of Minimal-Electro and Minimal-Wave songs, heavily influenced
by the sound of the 80s. Some tracks like „Menace“ are very driving, others
like „Broken Dummy“ are more experimental, but always very unique. I would
describe the sound as somewhere between very early Human League, Kraftwerk,
early Recoil, Notstandskomitee and today´s The Rorschach Garden. Sometimes
it reminds me also on a soundtrack for an experimental Dark Future-Science
Fiction- film. All eight tracks have a very good sound and some of them are
really dancable.
What else to say? If you
knew LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE before, you surely know, what to exspect. If
this is your first meeting with the project, you definetly know, what kind
of music is on the other releases. I wonder, why the German Genetic Music
label hasn´t released an album of the SYNDICAT yet, it would fit perfectly
fit their program. (A.P.)
LE SYNDICAT ELECTRONIQUE – Westmoon Klub/Herr Geldmann (7“ 2001)
(N.E.S.S.

This is one of the
strangest Minimal-Electro singles, I heard for a while. Alexandre of
Invasion Planete created two absolutely minimalistic tracks, which are
really experimental, but not very dancable. But anyway, both tracks are
loveable musical pieces and I would describe them as „Hits“, of course not
in the meaning of a Top-10-Hit. It reminds me on stuff like Weltklang´s
„Heimat“, but with a bit more Pop feeling. What makes this record such
special, is the German language singing, which sounds a bit like Laibach or
so.
Really a more than
collectable limited pink vinyl record, which you will like, if you are into
experimental Minimal Electro stuff. (A.P.)
